Seems to fundamentally misunderstand the intent and process of creativity. The AI did not "see" an analogy between a compost heap and an atom bomb. Hinton did. He suggested it. The AI merely found something it would not have found without human direction. And making analogies is not the purpose of art, it is merely one of the methods of expressing human meaning. Art has a purpose, a human intent. Does AI have a purpose, a self-directed and self-initiated hope? Would the AI write a poem if it didn't need to? Does the AI even understand meaning, does it know when something resonates as true, or does it merely expound upon it with cleverly placed words like a salaried career professor with tenure nearing retirement? What does AI know, as opposed to what data can it store and connect. They are not the same. (And by the way, once AI is linked up with robotics, plumbers will be the first jobs to be lost, not the last. Plumbing is a system. AI understands prescribed rule-bound systems.)
