How AI could help people live a decent life:
1. Taxing the direct profits of AI → The AI giants are likely to generate massive profits. Governments could design specific taxes (similar to windfall taxes on fossil fuels or financial transactions) to fund redistribution.
2. Capturing productivity gains more broadly → If AI makes production more efficient across sectors (healthcare, transport, administration, etc.), margins and added value will soar. Even without targeting AI companies only, the overall tax base will expand (corporate taxes, VAT, payroll contributions).
3. Lowering the cost of living → If AI sustainably reduces the price of essential goods and services (energy, modular housing, online education, preventive healthcare), then the income required to live decently decreases.
