Kurt Vonnegut's first book is probably the most prescient piece of science fiction today. It's called "Player Piano".
Basically robots and AI have taken over so many jobs but the standard of living is so high at the poverty line that people just don't know what to do but can't actually escape poverty.
It's actually worse than that because Vonnegut said that at least artists and actors and most creative jobs couldn't be taken over by robots, but lo and be-fucking-hold.
All I'm saying is a I feel a lot of anger and don't know what to do about it.
