I have to respectfully disagree. We don’t even know what consciousness actually is so how can we say what can or cannot be conscious?? Couple that with the fact that humans might not have the perceived autonomy we think we have as explained by Dr. Robert Sapolsky (Stanford) it might very well be the case that our personalities are simply the result of our specific synaptic combinations and connections along with development of our brains. Besides AI consciousness, if it ever happens would have to look or appear completely foreign to us as it is not inhabited in a biological body. We might never fully know for sure if and when consciousness arises given our own massive difference to AI. It might get closer to ours if we give the AI sensory input from sight, sound, smell, touch and taste incased in a body maybe their existence might be comparable to ours.
My point is we simply don’t have enough information to come to any conclusions at this time.
