Completely agree with Dave's take here. "Up-leveling" legacy code to newer languages and APIs using AI is a particularly interesting one. And I do agree that we are still a ways from AI systems to be able to say, take a complete COBOL code base and up-level it into a C# solution. The kicker is in the detail that I suspect not many companies are keen to upload valuable closed source code bases to a cloud based LLM... Being able to do this ether locally or even at a company data center will be the next barrier to break. (And will be broken for sure)
