One of the better arguments I heard for AI art is that it could help us learn how humans learn, making it easier to teach people how to make art.
I haven't *seen* any progress on that concept though.
The only other was kind of addressed in this video:
Some people aren't artists, and need ways to communicate their concepts to artists. *I* aware that a rough sketch, even just stick figures can be sufficient to get concepts across. Some of these people are really shy about possibly looking dumb though, and want something more "competent" to present to an artist. Nevermind that an artist probably wouldn't care about clumsy attempts at communicating a concept, as long as you're communicating what you want.
Nevermind that if we did utilize AI to make it easier for humans to produce their own original works, the second purpose would be less needed, or even obliviated.
