They use the term unemployment like it's nothing. Look deeper at the humans who have to experience job loss. When you lose your job, you might lose your ability to pay for important things in life like housing, food, transportation, utilities etc. It is not easy to get another job with all the competition and unconscious bias across things like race, age, gender, your personality, your cultural fit, your vibe and any number of qualities you cannot control. Look at Harvards 2017 study on resumes. Companies show bias against ethnic last names. Other studies show bias regarding vanity factors like the name brand value of your past companies.... Also companies want the exact match experience on your resume which is not really under your control. They treat you like a pizza and if you come with different toppings, you are thrown away. Why is this country so against training and reskilling to help people in this position? Why aren't there pathways to help people who have somehow fallen into predicaments like this get back on track. The attitude is...well, you lost your job...there is nothing we can do...just send out your resume and hope for the best....treat the process like a full time job. Humans are treated like shiny new objects or trash while our society continues to prioritize inanimate things like more and more cutting edge technology. State and the federal government spends billions on things like new train systems, military technology and almost everything else with human welfare and after thought. Use AI to figure out new solutions to help people get back on their feet across all walks of life. Ask how they can be trained to offer value for existing and new areas of market demand. The U.S. has a site called AI.gov. Maybe these queries would be a good application.
