I think he's likely right with the current model they are using. But just to be clear he never said thay they wont be able to create AI. He's saying in its current state it wont. LeCun, Sutton and many other ai researchers are saying the same thing although they all have slightly different ways of saying it. LLM's in their current state no matter how much you scale them up wont become AGI. We dont fully understand how even a squirrels brain works yet in neuroscience. Mimicking a human dont mean its conscious. They arent learning based on experience and a deeper internalization and understanding of a world model yet. This interviewer is far out of his depth.
