Not the only time this happened, actually.
On r/Undertale, an AI pixelart of an Undertale character wearing a pink bunny hoodie (which was like 16x16) was posted, and people quickly realized it was AI. The OP (who was probably like 12) responded to criticism with various racial slurs with made the whole situation even worse. This character wearing a bunny hoodie then became an anti-AI mascot and lots of cool art was drawn. The original post got taken down (duh).
