In regards to your last popoint, I always think of control that whenever people bring up a similar talking point. He's a great video on it: https://youtu.be/15Q6OR0MWVk?si=-w8KLpvEiU3AhGa5 Obviously the ideal is to make it so that typing a simple prompt will get you art equivalent to something made by hand, but there are AI artists who legitimately view it as a way to express themselves, and watch more control over it. There's also the fact that the AI creates the image from the prompt, while Google can't make an image that doesn't already exist. In this way: the role of an AI artists can be thought of as similar to the role of a director. Some directors writing stuff, but not all of them. And yet: the input is considered to be vital to the quality of a movie, game, comic, or whatever else is being made. Third directors who put in so little input that those beneath them are practically doing the directing for them, and there are directors who go out of the way to micromanage as many details as possible, and everything in between. I would argue this is a good analogy for the use of generative AI. Since people don't like calling AI artists "artists", maybe we can call them AI directors instead?
