Fairly good answer for a young designer.
As a senior level designer who has been in the field 15 years, I’d reframe by saying it just shifts the responsibilities of the pro graphic designers. We need to focus more on our ability to communicate and work with Clients, become experts in best practices for AI, in ADDITION to expertise in the creative application/production. It makes graphic design as a profession potentially have a higher on-ramp, but for those of us who are willing to step up it will make our expertise even more valuable.
Too many young designers aren’t taught how to work with clients well, or are given scenarios that aren’t real-world or diversified enough for what it really looks like to make it as a full time artist in this industry. Communication is 90% of the job. Do you understand what the client wants? Does the Client understand what they need? Knowing when and how to give information, and how much is too much info. All of these things are critical and commonly overlooked by university professors (based on what I see of student work).
