Starting off, I am very much in favour of AI art and flexibility to make whatever so I will have biases. Still, I wanted to add in some things of my own. A model can be used to make a 1:1 image of anything you want. It is not typical though for it to give you such a thing unprompted. I could do that but it doesn't seem right. It feels like a malicious use of it. I do copy original works though to get a baseline to start with, no objection to that. I myself have not been able to make the art I wanted by hand in a way that made me happy with the result. It made me frustrated and disappointed. Sure, I could do more practise and so on but it wasn't working and ended up being disheartening. Now I can make them and better yet I can put out images that are upsetting to me and have some semblance of control over these things which tormented me. That feels great to have such power over things and has helped with coping. You pointed out some comments there and yeah, they are straight up assholes and plainly disrespectful. I post on that sub often enough and reply to others and there are some people that are just rude, arrogant and obnoxious pricks. That is part of this community and is very unhelpful. They add nothing to the goal of improving interactions between both groups and it would be great if they just left. Not all of us in the community are out to be hostile and aggressive, there are more and more aiming to be inviting, helpful and kind which is something I hope to see happen more. Artisitc intent is brought up too and... well, you make it sound like none of us have any intent behind our results. It is not a direct scale from one to the other, but I must choose my words, phrasing, model(s), sampler, steps, etc. to make what my goal is. I know this was not out at the time of the video creation but there is a new tool called ContolNet and is amazing! I can put in my sketches, pose a skeleton structure, and then jump off that as a start point. I can get across ideas better! Can I do it well right now? No, but I will keep trying. Your art is yours but your style, as far as I am aware is not something you own but something you are known to be the primary user of. That whole thing is tricky and typically I won't use a model or anything that is exactly this person's work. Why? It is too hard to make it my own and therefore isn't useful. A model effectively takes inspiration from the dataset and is functionally no different to when I copied an artist's style when drawing with pencils. I used that as a start then and I still do now. Overall, there is a lot of people on each side at each other's throats trying to effectively "own" the other in some arbitrary or convoluted way and there are some out there being jackasses replicating work. Why do they do it? No clue, they look like clowns if that is their only goal. Artists like yourself who are actually good have little reason to worry in my opinion. You are talented and can make great stuff. These tools may be a use to you or you might choose to not use them. There are some frankly poor quality artists that should be worried because, they don't really offer anything worthwhile and I mean the type that puts in zero effort and effectively steals money, not those who are trying to improve. So yeah, I don't fully agree that the art should not be used but I also really dislike people intentionally using the tools under ill intent.
