It's not even just in the workplace, AI is seeping into schools and artificially inflating the expectations. I'm 18 years old and have been writing code since I was like 12, and have been genuinely interested in programming and developing software as a future career. However, the classes I'm taking, I've noticed, are pushing their curriculums to work better for kids who only rely on chatGPT to do their work. My Computer Science III class in senior year of HS right now (html, css, js, SQL), started off incredibly easy for me, as I have experience adapting to new creative environments. The assignments in the first semester were simple to me; it was all about writing websites with unique functions. I was clearly ahead of the curve when it came to the class since I could create the code and write my scripts without 20 different tabs open. However, my teacher noticed the rest of the class struggling (presumably, because they have been using AI to do the work for them all of HS), and switched up the assignments from directly code writing, to a lecture and a lot of quizzes and tests. This style wouldn't give a human being enough understanding to the intricacies of the units we were on, and wouldn't be pushing actual humans to program in-depth, so for me, the class became SIGNIFICANTLY more difficult, as I had no idea what to study for, what to learn, etc. The quiz and test questions had more content than I was being taught and I was falling behind the other students while they were sitting in front of me having a chatgpt tab on the side, with my teacher acting as if he doesn't know this is what they are doing. Actual human effort and interest is being dissolved for this utterly disgusting and disingenuous robot, and I have enough dignity to not stoop that low, and if that doesn't work out for me, so be it, I would rather be living off food stamps than being purely a vessel for asking a prompt questions all day, it's just a matter of what will drive me to kill myself first
