It's all about emulating what we see and practice, which is why Ed Sheeran was accused of copying Marvin Gaye's legendary R&B song. Sure, the songs are similar, but they're not carbon copies. But wait, hold up, most people are on Ed Sheeran's side, including other famous artists. Hmm, interesting.
But here's where it gets really spicy. Let's say an AI released the same song that Ed Sheeran made. Suddenly, it's considered copyright infringement, no ifs, ands, or buts. Can you say double standard? It's almost as if what we call "art" and enjoy consuming has all these pesky constraints and rules.
At the end of the day, if I learn how to draw a sky from one artist and how to draw faces from another and combine them to create my own masterpiece, it couldn't be called copyrighted.
