To clarify, many people, including most artists, are against using these tools even for "personal use" stuff, even these memes of celebrities doing things. For the very reason you bring up, the fact these tools consume the world's creative works to output derivatives. It takes no effort to generates hundreds of images of AI slop, that then makes its way to the internet and contributes to the "dead internet", where you can no longer be confident what is and isn't human-made. And nevermind that it doesn't matter if you're earning money from it or not, it doesn't change the ETHICS of using these tools that have scraped everyone's works without permission. It also affects people looking for references, because now the more people use this junk to make random images, the more is out there that aren't actually images of reality or authentic works, it muddies what is and isn't factual data. We're already seeing this happen, especially with text info. Everyone really needs to do their part to not support using these tools at all, shame it, don't accept it in your Discords, chats, etc... That's the only way we mitigate its effects on society, since there's no way we can actually prevent some people from using it. So the next best thing is societal shame.
