it is not self aware. it follows, that it cannot know that it said something which it knew to be false. making it admit to it does not infer that it knows it did these things. chat gpt in fact does not know what it is doing and has no capacity to understand it. it calculates through weights and biases what one would say and answer through rigorous "training". it is "lying" and that is meaningless. it sometimes blurts out garbage and that is meaningless. bottom line is: calling chat gpt - a language processing model - an AI, is like calling WLAN - wireless local area network - "WIFI". meaningless marketing; nothing more. As long as it cannot through some means reflect on what it is going to say before it gives an answer, it will just go on and push letters and symbols (originating from the questions/prompts given) together that only appear as though they were coherent sentences.
