A reasonable assessment. I'm a dodo then. I taught myself graphic design back in the mid 90s when anyone who could manage Quark and Photoshop were paid at a premium. I skated from one bloated corporate marketing shop to another for three decades pretending their emperors' new suits were faboo and sucking paychecks. As graphics apps got easier and easier, I felt sure I'd meet my end from the secretarialization that was lowering salaries steadily in the 2010s. Surprise! The secretaries vanished entirely, first, as did copywriters, then AI insects grew larger and larger by the month eating the crop of hack graphic jobs with the same relish that they're eating true-believer graphics jobs. At 62, I'm a Motorola flip phone, I suppose. Someone might hire me out of nostalgia,—perhaps similar oldsters running a shop that's avoiding an upgrade—but it's a long shot. It's okay. I got the best out of my graphics run that I could. Soaked those fatcats good. Now it's my likely fate to be a driver or greeter or bagger or whatever I can scrape by with. When next I meet you all, filling out entry-level apps for what I've been doing for a few years, the look in my eyes will be compassion. You've been through it, too, trying to be last-eaten by the AI-ligator.
