I call BS real quick, flag this comment, Politeness in AI interactions, such as saying "please" and "thank you," adds unnecessary data processing and increases computational load. Each word processed requires additional computational cycles, which consume more electricity. While a single polite phrase may seem trivial, millions of such interactions across millions of users can aggregate into substantial power usage.
If AI systems had to parse fewer words and simpler language, they could respond faster and with less computational effort, reducing power consumption. This would lower operational costs and decrease the environmental impact of AI systems, as large data centers require substantial power and cooling.
