It’s absurd that everyone can blame all these lay offs on AI. What’s happening is debt is expensive currently and companies are blaming it on AI as that sounds better to shareholders than saying we over-hired and are pulling back until calmer (cheaper) waters. Current LLM’s are not displacing that many jobs. And we are not mere weeks away from AGI. This is mostly just hype to keep stocks up and it’s sad that news outlets are just getting in line and reading off a script handed to them by their corporate overlords.
