Green energy, Virtual Reality, Electric cars, 3D printing and now AI. All big money-pits, full of hype and let-downs. AI does have the added benefit of playing scapegoat for the terrible economy. Sadly, the hype is discouraging the very STEM people who would be needed to clean up after the mess it makes should enough bonehead managers take it seriously.
The world can't afford another boondoggle.
