Causal, deterministic systems, such as computers, algorithms and thus AI, cannot have consciousness. Consciousness is beyond determinism and beyond just random, it's something we are not even close to understanding. Without consciousness, we will not have AGI or anything else - we will only have an amazing calculator that has zero self awareness, zero feelings, zero thoughts, zero everything, it will only react to prompts.
