It's worth noting that AI isn't replacing whole jobs but it is vastly increasing individuals productivity meaning a team of 5 with AI can do the work of a team of 8-10 without (depending on the industry/job). This is the real replacement. I'm saying this as someone who is very negative on AI and may well need to retrain soon since they've heavily focused AI on software development. One agent can do my entire job bar the decision making and bug hunting. Nice to know I might not be able to change jobs ever again, and that the most exciting part of the job for me has just been removed.
Also it's worth mentioning that the birthrate has turned negative so the population is now shrinking. The real reason for AI wanting to "replace workers" is because a smaller population means less workers and having to fight over them with higher salaries since H1B is not an endless source.
