Back when I was young I dreamed of the day when machines could finally do our work and allow us all to make better use of our time - to read, write poetry, spend more time on the arts etc.. This can only happen if the means of production is in the hands of the people - and not owned by a minority of elites. The research that has made AI possible was funded from taxpayer money and belongs to the people - but guess what, the vast array of computers and data storage required are owned by the elite. All these things AI, internet, power utilities, water etc.. should be in the hands of the public or at the very least state owned.
