Shad's problem is that he evaluates art the same way he evaluates a car, or a stove, or a candy bar. He doesn't engage with art in any meaningful way. He doesn't ask why it was made the way it was, or what the artist is communicating with the image they made. He just looks at the image, and if it's a higher fidelity than the last image he looked at, then it's better. He has a shallow understanding of what art is, and why people make it. A five year old who draws a stick figure of their mom at least conveys feelings of "I love my mom! My mom is the best! She's the most important person in my life!" whereas an image generated by an AI model tells me "According to the data I've 'collected' a mother is a nurturing figure in most households. She wears dresses as per her feminine role in the home dynamic. Mothers often cook food, which helps build bonds between her and the people she gives care and affection toward" like all I get is a fucking wikipedia article on the most generic idea of what a mother is. It tells me nothing. A five year old's drawing is something I can have a conversation with, and learn about the person who made it. A five year old's stick figure drawing has more soul put into it than an image generated by an AI model, and that's something Shad will never understand.
