Historically every single artist of every medium has been influenced by other artists. There's a ton of grey area for what constitutes inspiration vs. what is outright copying and taking credit for someone else's work. The work that an artist creates no longer belongs strictly to that person once it is published. It's out in the universe and so it belongs to everyone. I understand that AI can work more efficiently and probably takes shortcuts vs. what a real artist creates. That doesn't mean it's unethical. I don't have a problem with AI creating art so long as there's plenty of real people creating source material for the AI. Personally I believe copyright law is far too strict and in the long run seeking ownership and money for creative works harms peoples' ability to create. While AI-created music claims to be copyright-free, that probably isn't true. It just means there haven't been any successful lawsuits over its creation. The laws over music copyright are very ambiguous and open to interpretation by the court system and need to be massively reworked.
