AI art will not go away. While I fully support artist when it comes to a professional environment (Marvel's Secret War ai-generated intro is shameful), in the personal space, things are different.
I may want a nice cover-art for my TTRPG folder showing my character.
I may also want to eat this week.
I may not have money for both if I have to shell out 100-150€ for a commission for said cover-art.
I can get both if I let the cover-art be done by an AI.
It's as simple as that.
True art is a luxury. AI art allows us to get close to that without spending money we do not have.
It's why people there's such a thing as "vacation in Venice" and not just "move to Venice."
It's just technological advancement. Nowadays, more people are highly mobile (due to cars) than medieval peasants were, when horses were prohibitively expensive and only available to businesses or government.
