I once drank the Kool Aid long ago— but Musk’s fanatical insistence that not only can cameras with adequate processing enable autopilot or FSD but that it can serve as a replacement for LIDAR, i knew then he was full of it. This proclamation and a few high level resignations in Tesla’s self driving division led me to conclude that he was relying on faith alone to push his “vision” of FSD.
