i was a software salesman for 30 years - systems programmer and telecoms software developer before that - retiring in 2017. When the AI hype hit the market, i was telling friends - i have seen this before. Hype-Ware. i just knew it was all crap - it might still pay off but not for many many years
Software sales is a fashion industry relying heavily on advertising and hype. Every few years a new fad hist the market, usually blowing over in 2-3 years. The good stuff survives, but takes YEARS to settle down. I remember the data warehouse hype of the 90's. Data warehousing only really matured in the early 2000's. Y2K, the problem that never was, middleware, XML etc etc.
