I think the biggest issue is just the term, here. It's not "AI artist" as much as it is analogous to the role of a director. A director isn't an actor/set designer/makeup artist/etc, but still plays a massively important role in the outcome of a film. If someone has an idea and the way they turn that idea into an actual image is via AI, the creative aspect was still originating from them, and would therefore be a creative work. Of course this is a very optimistic viewpoint on things, because the reality of how generative AI tools are used don't really beget this kind of scenario as often as they would need to for me to be comfortably fully taking this stance. Still trying to work out my own stance on this one, tbh
