The progress from making "AI slop" to making "something good with AI" shouldn't surprise anybody. Like with any craft, people get better at using their tools and eventually they can take on more ambitious projects. I also post a lot of what people would consider AI slop, but for me, these are just experimentations for larger projects I have in mind. It's like writing a bunch of short stories to get better at writing before you move on to write a novel.
I fully agree with the "art vs content" comparison, and I've always seen myself more as a content creator than an artist. The whole "art" talk has always sounded extremely pretentious to me ever since I was a kid. Basically, I'm "The curtains are just blue" kind of guy.
My approach is simple: "How do I make content that's entertaining for the audience?". I've never wanted to "insert myself" into the work, or to "form connections" or any of that. So, for me, the only question that matters regarding AI is whether I can efficiently use it to make something that I consider good.
