AI is better at software than anything else right now. So, I’d say it will kill the junior developer at larger companies that pay for engineering only, the senior developer at large companies that don’t want to pay for good engineers (and don’t have fresh ideas), and grow better engineers at the companies that are able to leverage their engineers to become product/design engineers (the longer horizon).
And for those (of us) who can - really - produce…we will be the pure conductors (beyond the architect) of agentic [sic] orchestras, tying disparate systems - and ideas - together.
We’re far from peak software.
