I think you're wrong due to your assumptions about governments and politicians. Politicians are loyal to the constituents that care the most and the ones who care the most are often the ones who understand what they're fighting for and are willing to spend money lobbying. Hunger will make much of the general population a lot more attentive to politics and far less willing to blindly trust their preferred party. Our current president is president because he had support of people who didn't like the status quo. He didn't get the most cash and donations or the most support from corporations and the media. Yet he won. Dumping money on politicians only works in corrupt countries because the people there prefer corruption over the alternative: civil/ethnic war. The real way that this AI stuff would be handled is that advanced AI programs would be regulated in such a way where only individuals could own them. So the worker at the job wouldn't be replaced by AI but would instead own the AI that does their job for them. This would make AI systems much more unique and capable of dealing with complicated issues. You're doing what people always do when they see a stock skyrocket or drastically drop: you're assuming that the trend will continue indefinitely. Reality doesn't work that way.
