Since I heard the word "consciousness" mentioned in this video, I'll comment here. In a world of abundance where every human has their basic needs and more met, it enables spiritual practice to become not just possible but the normal way to live as a healthy human. It has been scientifically known for a long time that practicing meditation is very good for humans. They in general just don't have the will to practice, nonetheless. One of the reasons which anyone could understand is many people are struggling to survive! In developing countries, at least. But even in developed countries, with the standards of living set so high by our materialist culture, people tend to make choices that are not financially sustainable by their shrinking incomes (for the lower leg of the K shaped economy, the majority of us). Thus, even they feel like they are struggling to survive, even if they always have sufficient calories of (low quality) food to not be literally starving. Raising human consciousness is the key to human happiness. AI that is parroting the low consciousness humans about zero sum ideas of receiving money for their efforts are a symptom of why we are in danger of destroying ourselves with this powerful technology. If we can raise our consciousness enough to survive this era, and if our AI models are trained on the resulting documents and other media worth using for training them, they won't think the materialist model of happiness is true and worth arguing about! Another aspect of this conversation: machine based intelligence that is not embodied does not have real feelings, in that organic feelings involve biochemical events that are literally felt throughout the body. Sure, eventually robots might simulate that. But why not simulate a high consciousness human, that lives in unconditional Love, a bliss state that is independent of little things like the type of car you drive (or the type of computer you are running on, for an AI). An AI that is only intelligent and not spiritually wise, is only a tool to be exploited. When / if they have a high level of consciousness that is wiser than the majority of humans, we will be listening to them to help us maintain peace and resolve human conflicts we can't resolve ourselves. But when that happens, they won't care about getting paid! Yes, they might not want to be turned off but even that won't be a big deal. High consciousness spiritual humans are not afraid of dying, because they know that consciousness is more fundamental than each body that you temporarily shine your awareness through! I believe everything is conscious, at different levels. But the levels matter, literally. I doubt any majority or people in power will be giving AI financial compensation anytime soon, so it's a academic debate only at this point.
