All I know is that even with 18 years of experience and training in drawing, I barely am at the level that is considered industry appropriate and due to difficulties relating to my specific way of functioning being someone in the Autism spectrum I can not perform fast enough or consistent enough to be satisfactory close to the standard existent in the illustration/animation industry, now let alone against AI that can produce tons of fully rendered images in minutes whereas I can take days or more for just one.
Truth is at the end it doesn’t matter if it is unethical or theft because the public would much rather pay for prompts to generate AI art or make the prompts themselves than to pay varying quantities of money for one or 2 images from an artist that can take anywhere in between 2 days to indeterminate.
My plan B career plan was programming but you all already know how things are going for programmers when it comes to AI too…
