As someone who isn't that into art and uses AI a bunch, I agree. I think real art is way more interesting knowing somebody actually drew it, even if it's a worse piece.
That said, I just use AI to look at pretty picture, the same way I used to use deviantart. I agree that it's pretty soulless and I would never pay for it or put it up online thinking I achieved something, but I see certain use cases for it that are less artistic where I wouldn't mind. I don't mind seeing it used for creating texture assets in games for example.
