It seems the fear of joblessness is predicated on the assumption that we continue to operate within the same capitalist economic system, where human labour is a key form of capital. There is a huge opportunity to leverage the massive shift in labour markets resulting from AI to catalyse our progression to whatever the next iteration is. Many theories suggest a combination of AI and post-capitalism could free people from the constraints of menial wage labour, facilitating the pursuit of things that are meaningful and joyful to them. Humanity could benefit immensely if more people chose to invest their energy into ensuring the positives are harnessed and the negatives are mitigated.
