I'm perplexed how/why they think using AI shows their creativity when it actually takes it away. That's like taking a premade cake and adding strawberries on top and claiming it as your own. Yes, you contributed to it, but you didn't make it. It would be more creative to make the cake yourself, then add your own flare. AI is a cop out for people who are either too lazy to draw or genuinely feel they can't. No one was born with "blue blood" and a natural ability to draw. I've been drawing for 10+ years and I'm still learning so much to this day. I went from stick figures to full drawings with time and effort. I legit have only started drawing humans recently, and they're pretty dang good! Ask me 10 years ago and I never would've believed it was possible, if you told little kid me that there was a magic AI button to make all my art fantasies come true, I'd use it. But instead, I picked up the pen and went, "What the hay! I can draw animals, humans are animals, so why not take a stab! The worst that can happen is I give up, so let's make the best that can happen!" And surely enough, I have human characters and I have been drawing human(oid) characters for other people too! I even joined Art Fight this year and have been getting myself out there. If I had resorted to AI, I never would've been able to accomplish the things I've done today. If I decided to use AI, I can only imagine how bitter I'd be that, "I can't do that, I wish I could draw," just like that person. The way I actually got into art was because I felt I wasn't born with artistic abilities. My older sister made a comic about super hero dogs, my family loved it, so I wanted her to make me one with super hero cats. She told me no, and I got upset because I didn't know how to draw but I really wanted that comic. So I got to work and made my own comic. It didn't get as many wows and whoas as my sister's comic, but I kept drawing anyways. Fast forward years later, my sister stopped drawing but I kept going, right now, I'm drawing reference sheets for her and her twin. She stopped practicing, though she was so good, and she always says how she can't drawing/how "bad" her drawings are, and everytime I tell her that she's the one who inspired me to draw, if she didn't tell me to draw that comic, if she had made it herself, I never would've became the artist I am today and that she should pick up art again. This proves it's not a "blue blood" talent since one could argue I wasn't born with it and she was, but I became an artist too and she stopped, sooo was I born with the blood and she didn't have it? Because if so, how come she was able to draw and I wasn't? One of us practiced and kept going and the other did not, there was no magic or natural born skills. AI strips you of your creativity, it makes pictures within seconds but there's only so much it can do. You still long to be able to have that artistic ability and skill but instead defend AI since it's the "only way" you can be a "true artist" when all your doing is typing a prompt to steal from artists. It almost makes it sound like a villain, like, because I can't draw I'll use a machine to steal the talents of others. Almost like the Incredible's line, "When everyone's super, no one will be," and that's just a down right sad view on life. I hope all who use AI learn that it's not a god given gift that we're born with, it's a trade we pick up on and have to practice, just like with any sport or activities. And just like any sport or activity, you can do it too, and even if it takes you five days or five years, you know it's the fruit of your own labor, that no one can deny the beautiful creation that you've made, that you made something you can 100% say and claim as your own.💚
