While I ❤ Bernie and wholeheartedly wish we all lived in the world he envisions it is simply not possible under the current two party, pay for politics construct we have in this country, period. I hate to sound in anyway defeatist but this view is naive.
What is being built is an entirely new system built on the back of an old one (capitalism), until we devise an incentive structure that creates an adjacent system that people investing trillions into AI find of value OR we get money out of politics (the Dems are lost and will be for some time, I’m sorry) I don’t see this going another way at least not in a country that saw fit to elect someone like Donald Trump to run it.
I for one would recommend working to prepare for what’s coming and of course being active with anything that resembles real change (I.e., money out of politics, community groups focused on impacting change at the local level, a 3rd no BS people first political party, etc,). Deeply appreciate this note Bernie, it is indeed an under discussed topic.
