Anyways, let's get to the conclusion here, China is taking the lead, backed by its government, while the West is still in debate. The harsh truth is... while West gov, people, and corporations can debate about this topic between privacy vs technology, China, unfortunately for the West, will move on ahead with or without the external support or approval (take its space station for ex.). Sure, Chinese corporates, like Xiaomi or ByteDance that wants to business in the West, will have to conform to the local laws and societal norms. However, China will push ahead with advancement in AI, automation, surveillance, and big data as one of its key elements in its future society. I don't mean this as boasting as I share the concern, but this is where the world is heading towards, like how Global Warming is... we are nothing more than observers, unless someone propose that we should launch war for the sake of personal privacy?
