I recently switched from the trades to white collar work.
I'm really close to going back to the trades. I knew I was going to take a pay cut. But the idea was to cut my teeth at a low level job and then move out and have a better life with more upward mobility. Now, it's hard to move out of entry level work. Not to mention I can't even afford an apartment.
The thing is, this isn't new. We have seen outsourcing before covered by an excuse. AI is the new excuse to move jobs offshore.
