As a software developer who had a huge AI simulation interest in college before the term was marketed beyond recognition and also as a lover of art and animation, this whole AI “art” topic has been a real trip. People ignoring real theft and loss of human expression to justify being able to generate some meaningless images is crazy. The people calling you (or any anti AI art person) a luddite fully don’t know what technology is supposed to do for people. Literally billions of dollars poured into marketing and still these company can’t come up with a better problem these image generating products solve than cringy gc memes? It feels like most people in this bandwagon stopped looking at tech as a means to solve problems & help people and instead got wrapped up in some science fiction fantasy. Also to the point of AI making art more accessible, as a kid I was so proud of my drawings that were basically traced images of drawings I saw online, I don’t think I’d feel a fraction of the joy if I simply asked a chatbot to give me a picture of a dragon instead.
