While I understand that there is danger in allowing automation to be possible on our roads and we can only hope a reduction in the amount of deaths is a possible outcome to hope for but the truth is that driving is one of the most pleasurable experiences for the average person.
I have known people that love driving so much they dedicate their lives to a career in truck driving through sheer dedication and passion to that job role. Fully automated road systems without any human drivers will be devoid of that enjoyment.
