The difference is that Google and other search engines are specifically designed to show people what they searched for not on their oen, but by linking to websites that contain the data. The copyright is on the websites that Google is showing, not Google themselves. AI images on the other hand directly use copyrighted materials, almost always without permission, and can be easily used to replicate copyrighted content.
