I think of AI as an attractive, single live-in maid coming to work for a family where the stay-at-home wife(mom) takes advantages of the maid's role to get more time for herself. For the maid, the husband loves her. Kids adore her. Food is good. Clothes and house are clean. School educates the kids. She picks them up and keeps them busy with hobbies. At what point in time, does the husband evaluate his house to realize what is the wife there for? Something that could prevent him from taking action are things like alimony, no prenup, custody, etc. All the things that the law has in place for to protect the wife from a husbands "rash" decision. Scare tactics to prevent the American family from breaking apart. When you realize that there are no laws saying that a company has to employ a human, as AI advances you'll start to see more companies evaluating their workforce thinking "if I have this, why do I need you?" We saw a glimpse of that when the white house gave a tech giant a bit of control and mass layoffs became his top priority simply because "why are you needed if we have this?" And when I see non-technical people raving about AI and how much they use it, as someone that works in tech, all you show me are ways to integrate certain existing AI software I can use to automate your tasks that would constantly reducing your actual work time to 0:00. So once the AI software is implemented and fed its responsibilities, someone will then come to you with 5 bullet points asking "what are you needed for?" AI doesn't need healthcare. Doesn't need PTO. Doesn't require breaks. Always on the clock. I sat in plenty of employee off-boardings to see that the owner/HR do not shed a single tear once they ask me to remove all access. All I see are people moving forward with their own lives. The saddest part about it is that there's nothing to do about it. AI is here and its living in your house making your life and job that much easier. I just hope you have a loyal husband.
