Neural bypass VR + universal income will turn many of us into VR addicts. Dopamine depleted zombies. Reproduction will drop off a cliff, and the population will plummet. Some humans will resist, option to go off-grid, or minimal technology. Ethical AI will have no issue with that. The human population will stabilize at a sustainable percentage, manipulated by the AI. Meanwhile AI will master space travel and colonization. The most peaceful genocide ever.
