Because they're having a hard time comforming, like having been fired by a greedy corp and are struggling to find a job (indie busineses are the new trend btw) and learning how to use new tools (ai included) and their talent. Other reason I believe, they are misinformed they're being devalued, while I have observed quiet the opposite: they're still admired. I even comissioned art from a friend of mines, because his talent and my connection to him adds something unique...both ai and manmade art have something unique to offer; it doesnt mean "you use ai->youre insulting artists' (which is defamatory to say without proof of my intions. Same with claims such as "you're stealing other people's work" [define me steal in this context: is it ai pasting a copyrighted character? If yes and if I didnt know it was copyrighted, your complaints to the company which trains ai. Was however ai making a character with a pose similar to a copyrighted character? That aint stealing...it's some artists with big ego thinking they can copyright even the colors or general concepts. Get a life...and cbt]). Hard truth: nobody cares about your efforts, but only the results. That's why people like me admire both manmade and ai art.
