This video brought up two thoughts.
1) The people fantasizing about truly intelligent AI are very similar in their behavior to "chuni" kids in Japan. For about two decades, there has been a syndrome among some Japanese middle schoolers where they believe they have become superior in some way, even superhuman. The extreme cases you mentioned about some folks become absolutely delusional after spending too much time with an AI feels to be the same sort of thing.
2) I don't watch Tik Tok, so I don't know what the folks are actually saying. Many native English speakers confuse the meanings of sentient and sapient, and I am not sure with it being Sabine's second language, if she understands the difference either. (Sorry if you do.) Basically, "sentience" is an animal level of intelligence, with an emphasis on being able to respond emotionally. However, "sapience" is a major step above that, a human-level intelligence of not just knowing things and having a great capability to reason, but actually being conscious of knowing things, and knowing that other people experience different things. How this relates to this AI nonsense I'm not sure, but I believe it is best to use accurate terminology in the debate.
