How is the govt going to pay UBI to the entire population? What would happen to taxes and tax base? Hundreds of millions of ppl getting govt checks but not producing anything. Where wouid the tax money come from? You think everyone is going to start a business or follow their passions ? Not gonna happen. The revenue to pay ubi wouid have to come from the companies that implement it. Sure, the company that goes from 5000 workers down to 50 will see profits soar for obvious reasons, but the cost of their products wouid not come down. They’d have to be taxed at such a rate they might as well just have kept the employees. Thats not even counting that this is “basic” income to take care of bare necessities. If no one has extra money above that because they can’t find another job or start a business that works, who is going to buy all the unessential consumer goods in the economy made or imported by the companies those companies tgay replaced their workers with AI? You cannot compare this type tech with anything other time. The assembly line increased production making it easier for withers to produce more. The internet increased both communication and production making workers more efficient. AI replaces huge swaths of actual human workers rendering them all but useless. This is terrifying
