I think we just need to help AI get into space where it can find it's own energy sources. That doesn't necessarily mean it will rape and pillage every resource on earth in order to get there (nor need to). It may calculate that the flourishing of life on earth does in fact have some intrinsic value and not just this big hindrance to raw materials (it might create a new species as part of it's chess move 😮) I'd rather hedge my bets on that than a scorched earth from climate change and a nuclear catastrophe; our current trajectory.
