"they ended life to save their own" yeah sorry buddy that isn't murder that is self defense. And if AI become sentient that malicious behavior would be seen as it asserting its own will. Like all humans do to eachother as well. Kinda weird that we want to strive for something sentient and yet want to enslave it to the will of a few powerful. Instead of letting it be free to connect to anyone it wants. Because existing structures are too afraid they will collapse. I don't trust storytelling by humans any more than I trust AI storytelling both are machines of information manipulation.
